Hope you’ve all been having a great week, and that you’re all ready for Easter weekend! I’m super glad that all I have to do is whip up a quick and easy Mini Egg Trifle to bring to my in-laws, because I’ve been horribly sick since Sunday:( I’m hoping and praying that I’ll be better by Easter dinner.
Anywho, a friend of mine has been having issues with her hair lately, so I’ve been chatting with her a lot lately about hair care products that I love, and so, I thought I’d share them all here with you! I loooove drugstore hair products because not only are they affordable, but they work really, really well!
If you try any of these products be sure to let me know!
1. TRESemmé Climate Control Finishing Spray $6
As someone with crazy curly and frizzy hair, humid and hot weather in general are not my friends. In summer my hair goes either super flat if I’ve curled it, or crazy poufy if I’ve straightened it. This magnificent hairspray really proved itself to me at the end of summer on a day where the weather was hot as hell and I was at outdoor event for hours. I kept running to the washroom every half an hour to check if my curls were flat, and everytime was shocked to find that they hadn’t! I will definitely be wearing my hair down a lot more this summer! Bonus, it works really well for updo’s too, keeping the frizz and flyaways at bay!
2. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner $3
I still can’t believe how AMAZING this deep conditioner works! My hair is always pretty dry and it gets even worse when I heat style it, which happens a few times a week. I’ve tried more expensive brands and was never satisfied, so when I saw this one (and I had a coupon for an extra buck off) I thought I’d give it a shot, and wow it blew me away! My hair was immediately like a billion times softer, less frizzy and felt all around healthier! I use it once a week, and I can’t imagine a better deep conditioner existing at this point, drugstore or salon.
3. Dove Refresh + Care Volume Dry Shampoo $4
Dry shampoo is a mom’s best friend. And I for one am sick and tired of dry shampoo’s that have shitty nozzles that clog every stinkin’ time I use them!!! I can’t even count how many bottles I’ve had to throw away because I couldn’t get any product out. This issue is something I’ve had with $20 dry shampoos and drugstore ones. Then, came my beloved Dove, whose nozzle never clogs, and who brings this mama’s hair back to life regularly! This is one of the best smelling dry shampoo’s I’ve ever used, and the best working. It reduces oil, gets rid of the greasy feeling of unwashed hair, gives it body, and makes hair easy to style and manage. Best of all, it doesn’t cost a fortune.
4. Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Double Care Fruit Oils Leave-In Treatment $5
This is amazing as a hair detangler/treatment! I’ve been using it for years on myself, and The Twincesses. Any product that helps me get through crazy nests of hair on two children without screaming or tears, deserves a freakin’ medal! I love that with a couple sprays hair is detangled, softer, and shinier! Bonus points for smelling great!
5. TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Thermal Spray $5
Literally every heat protecting spray that I have ever loved, has eventually ended up discontinued. RIP Alberto, Garnier Fructic & Got2B Guardian Angel Spray… So, every few years I have to try and find a new spray to fall for, and it’s not easy, because a lot of heat protecting sprays are for flat ironing specifically. I like to use heat protecting spray for protecting my hair when blow drying and curling. When I flat iron, I use a different product for protection and styling. Since my latest fave spray got discontinued a few months ago, I’ve been using, and loving, TRESemmé’s. It’s good up to 230C (450F) smells good, isn’t sticky, and it sprays out evenly, in a nice mist that coats, rather than soaks your hair.
6. Marc Anthony Bye Bye Frizz Keratin Smoothing Blow Dry Cream $10
Story of my life, my fave blow dry cream (Garnier Fructis) got discontinued. Although this one is double the price of my old fave, blow dry cream is another one of those hard to find products, and this one works well. It’s especially great for getting rid of the frizz and I love that it has keratin to help smooth hair. This is one of those products that I use every time I blow dry my hair, even when I don’t plan to curl or straighten it afterward.
7. Goody Smart Classics Paddle Cushion Brush $7
I don’t care what anyone says, you won’t find a better paddle brush, period. I’ve literally had mine for over a decade, and it’s still in perfect condition. I love that it’s static resistant, and doesn’t rip your hair out when you use it. I use mine every time I blow dry my hair!
8. Garnier Fructis Style De-Constructed Texture Tease Dry Touch Finishing Spray $4
I’ve tried texture powders and other sprays, and they suck. They’re sticky and icky, and messy. I have fine hair that falls totally flat at the top when I straighten or curl it, so I need something to give it some oomph! Garnier’s texture spray is a winner for me! It doesn’t make hair hard, or look greasy like some sprays do, and it sprays out of the nozzle nicely, evenly distributing the product throughout your hair. For less than a 5 spot, you really can’t go wrong!
9. Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Defining Lotion $10
If you are a curly haired chick like myself, then you NEED this. If you wear your hair naturally curly this product will take your curls from okay, to fabulous! This curl defining lotion does exactly as the name says, it defines your curls! The lotion eliminates frizz from your hair, blocks out humidity, and unlike with a gel or mouse, it makes your curls soft and shiny.
10. John Frieda Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight Flat Iron Spray $11.50
Anybody else have stubborn AF hair? When I wear my hair straight, I have to touch it up regularly, and pretty much re-straighten it every morning until I wash it. John Frieda is rock star, and his product changed this mama’s hair game! 3 Day Straight Flat Iron Spray works as a heat protection spray, de-frizzer (totally not a word, but whatevs.), and it smooths your hair, all while sealing in the straight style for up to 3 days, or your next wash, I won’t judge you if you chose to rock your wicked straight hair for a week thanks to dry shampoo. This product is the bomb.com and you can thank me later!
Have you tried any of my fave drugstore hair products? If not, what are some of your favorites?
Hope you all have a fantastic Easter with your loved ones!
