Winters here in Manitoba are extremely cold and windy. It often gets so cold that being outside for more than a few minutes with exposed skin can result in frostbite! As you can imagine, that kind of harsh, cold weather is extremely drying from head to toe, so over the years I’ve tried hundreds of different beauty products aimed at providing moisture. Today, I’ve rounded up my ten favorite moisturizing beauty products to share with you! Bonus, if you have sensitive skin don’t worry, I personally use all of these products, and have ridiculously sensitive skin, so hopefully these products work out for you too!
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
I’ve been using this cleanser since last winter, when my skin decided to change again and began breaking out with my former cleanser. I love this cleanser because it has a pump to dispense product, I find it sooo annoying when facial products don’t come with a pump! Also, it’s super gentle on my hyper-sensitive skin, and it doesn’t leave my face feeling dehydrated and tight like most cleansers do.
Cerave Renewing SA Lotion
I’ve been using it as long as I’ve been using the cleanser, maybe a week less, because I originally tried the regular moisturizer first, which was not hydrating enough for my very dry skin in our harsh climate. This lotion has worked wonderfully for me, and I appreciate the fact that Cerave products can be bought at most drugstores and grocery stores for about $15, and the bottles last forever!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask- I did a lot of research on lip products before finding this little miracle worker! My lips cannot handle winter at all, they get so flaky that lipstick was not wearable in winter-until now! You apply this delicious, berry scented lip mask at bedtime, and then wipe leftover product/residue off in the morning, and voila-silky smooth and soft lips! It also works well as a daytime lip balm in a pinch, and gives a nice subtle sheer pink color to the lips. This lip mask can be purchased at Sephora for about $20 and is well worth the money because a little bit of product goes a loooong way, and it’s a lip saver!
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy
I’ve raved about First Aid Beauty products for years, but discoverd this lip therapy just last winter! Ultra Repair Lip Therapy is my go-to product when my lips dry out during the day from wind and cold. I keep one in my purse at all times! I like the built in applicator because I hate having to put my fingers into lip products to apply-not sanitary! I also like the somewhat gritty texture of the product, as it gently exfoliates lips. You can find it at Sephora for $15.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream/Lotion
This lotion is the ultimate overachiever when it comes to a moisturizing lotion! It can be used on your whole body, and works wonderfully as a facial moisturizer for those with very sensitive and extremely dry skin. I used this on my face for years, and now use it mainly as a hand, and foot lotion. The Ultra Repair cream absorbs instantly into skin, without leaving a greasy residue, and it’s unscented. This cream also has a great reputation for clearing up eczema and psoriasis, I’ve been told by many people who swear by it, and use it instead of prescription creams. The Repair cream comes in a few sizes, I always buy the biggest squeeze bottle (8oz) for around $40 from Sephora, and the bottle lasts forever!
EOS Lip Balm
I hate the feeling of bare lips so I wear these lip balms all day, every day, and even apply it underneath lip gloss and lipstick for added moisture. The shape is cute, and I love the variety flavors that EOS offers. You can buy EOS at any grocery store, or drugstore, but I always buy mine at Costco where a 6 pack at around $15 is a steal of a deal!
Simple Skincare Soothing Facial Toner
Since having The Twincesses this is the only toner my face can handle! Every other toner I’ve tried over the years dries my skin out, makes it suuuper red, (resembling a chemical burn) and stings/ irritates. Simple’s toner is great for sensitive skin, is alcohol free(a rare find in toners) and it preps the skin nicely for moisturizer. You can find this toner at any grocery or drugstore for about $8.
Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture
I have been a loyal dove body wash consumer for over a decade, and love the updated line that includes even more moisturizing ingredients-10x to be specific! I don’t like putting lotions of any kind onto my legs arms, or torso, and in using Dove’s body wash I have never had to-winning! Depending on bottle size, can be bought at any drug or grocery store starting around $2.
Sephora Coconut Water Hydrating Mist
To be fair this is the only hydrating mist I’ve ever used. I find that Sephora brand products are often better than many name brand ones, so when I was at Sephora a few weeks ago I picked one up in the travel section of the store to test out. The winter winds here are extremely nasty, and make literally make my face hurt, so I wanted a spray that was small enough to throw in my bag and use as needed after being outside. This mist was around $15.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner
I’ve talked about this deep conditioner before on the blog, and it’s still my fave! My hair feels like straw in the winter! So, I use this deep conditioner at least once a week to restore moisture to my hair. It’s around $3 at any drug or grocery store, makes my hair silky smooth, and I’ve been using it for over 3 years!
That’s it for my faves! If you’ve tried any moisturizing beauty products that have worked well for you, I’d love to hear about them! And if you’ve tried any of my faves, let me know what you think of the products below, in the comments!
To my American friends, Happy Thanksgiving, and to everyone, have a fabulous weekend, lovebugs!
