The Best Drugstore Makeup for Under $5

The Twincesses love makeup sooo much, and are such girly girls that they are constantly asking me if they can wear makeup, and they recently got into my makeup, ruining a few expensive Tarte lipsticks of mine-I was livid!!! I guess the play makeup I made for their birthday in October wasn’t cutting it anymore!   So the next time we went out I took my little diva’s to the drugstore to pick out their own makeup, that they could play with at home, to prevent them from ever touching my precious makeup again!

While at the drugstore I was reminded of all my favorite, and super cheap fave make up products, and so, today I’m sharing the best of the cheapest drug store beauty products here with you!

NYC New York Color Liquid Eyeliner–Extreme Black $3.87

This liquid eyeliner is literally the BLACKEST liquid eyeliner I’ve ever found and used in my entire life! I was initially hesitant and terrified to purchase it, because it’s not a pen-like liner, and I don’t have a very steady hand, but I was pleasantly surprised at how easy this eyeliner was to apply, and how precise. At under $5 this liner cannot be beat!

e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set Clear $3.97

I still love my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting spray for formal events and super long days, but for being like a bajillion dollars cheaper, this e.l.f setting spray works wonderfully for day to day wear! It makes foundation and powders look more skin-like and natural, it keeps makeup set and in place for hours, and it’s great for refreshing makeup on hot days without having to actually touch up makeup. It doesn’t smell very good, but smell dissipates within seconds of spraying onto face. You do have to spray it on from farther away than other setting sprays, to get a better mist, but for such a low price it works amazing!

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder $4.47

I’ve been using this loose face powder to set my foundation and concealer in place for 7 years. It has no color or tone to it when applied so it’s perfect to lock in your liquid makeups without compromising color. You get a ton of product, it works wonderfully and it’s dirt cheap. I can’t understand why anyone would go to a department store and spend 10 times the amount of money on a “high end” make up product that works exactly the same as this drug store Holy Grail loose powder.

Rimmel London 100% Waterproof Mascara-Brown $3.98

I don’t use waterproof mascara on my top lashes unless I’m at a beach or pool, but I do use this waterproof one daily on my bottom lashes because I find normal mascara’s transfer and flake easily on my bottom lashes, whereas this mascara does not.  It’s a good mascara for those looking to accentuate their lashes, while maintaining a natural look. NYC New York Color Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder $4.47

I am very picky when it comes to bronzers. I find a lot of them are too sparkly and too orangey, which is not a cute look. NYC’s is lovely because it’s matte, not orange, it’s pigmented and it blends easily for a gorgeous, sun kissed glow!

COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadows $3.97

Tapestry Taupe, Mink and Champagne are my fave shades out of the many gorgeous shadows to choose from! These eye shadows are highly pigmented, easily to blend, little fallout, and such great quality overall for the price!

Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss-Cute Pink $2.99

All of Essence’s Shine lip-glosses are a win in my book, because not only are they super affordable, but they smell AMAZING, stay put on lips, and they aren’t sticky!  My fave shade right now is Cute Pink.

e.l.f. Blush with Brush $2.97- Shy $2.99

This blush is hands down my favorite drug store blush, ever!  It’s such a gorgeous pink that would be flattering on any skin tone, it’s highly pigmented, it blends well, and it’s cheap!  What more could a girl want?

Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara-Blackest Black $4.96

This mascara is a cult classic and the number one selling drugstore mascara for a reason!  I’m pretty sure every woman has used this mascara at some point in their lives.  It’s such a super black mascara, that is easily buildable to your desired volume, and it washes off very easily. The brush also separates and lengthens lashes wonderfully.

Essence Long Lasting Lipstick-Nude Love $3.49

I was on the hunt for an affordable, great, every day, nude colored lipstick and am happy to report that I found it! The color is subtle, yet pigmented, and it lasts a long time! It can feel a little dry on the lips, but I like to put a little lip balm on underneath to prevent any dryness.

  1. Saving money on cosmetics is a huge plus! In recent years, I have worked to find more natural cosmetics. It’s a difficult task for sure, and I’m not a totally all natural person. Moderation in spending and checking out ingredients is key. 😉 However, after trying Savvy Minerals makeup by Young Living, I have absolutely loved their products.
